Self-Love Is More Than Beauty: It’s Keeping the Promises You Make to Yourself

For a long time, I thought self-care looked like a fresh wax, glowing skin, or a beautiful makeup look. And while those things absolutely make me feel confident, I’ve realized they’re only one piece of the puzzle.

Real self-love isn’t just about how you look.

It’s about how you show up for yourself.

Lately, I’ve been challenging myself to keep the promises I make to me. Not because anyone is watching, but because every promise I keep builds trust with myself.

When I said I wanted to start running, I finally stopped saying, “I’ll start next week,” and laced up my shoes.

When I wanted to grow spiritually, I made time to be in God’s presence instead of waiting until I “felt like it.”

When I committed to becoming healthier, I chose consistency over perfection.

Those choices may not always be glamorous, but they’re changing me.

At Kissed by Jada, I love helping women feel beautiful through skincare, makeup, and beauty services. But I hope this space reminds you that beauty begins long before you sit in my chair.

It begins with choosing yourself.

With honoring your goals.

With giving yourself grace while remaining committed.

Because the greatest act of self-love isn’t buying another product.

It’s becoming someone who believes they’re worth showing up for.

So here’s my challenge to you:

What’s one promise you’ve been making to yourself that it’s finally time to keep?

Maybe today is the day you stop waiting.
